Advocacy and Institutional Strengthening

FOOD Tank strengthens community institutions, promotes inclusive governance, and influences policies that support sustainable livelihoods and poverty reduction.

Key Results
<ul><li><strong>Strengthened Community Voice and Participation:</strong> Reached over <strong>2,000 community members</strong> through advocacy and awareness campaigns on gender equality, land rights, climate resilience, and gender-based violence (GBV), increasing community participation in local development processes.</li><li><strong>Enhanced Women's and Youth Leadership:</strong> Empowered more than <strong>200 women and youth</strong> with knowledge on land rights, legal literacy, leadership, and decision-making, while supporting <strong>15 women and youth groups</strong> to actively participate in community governance and livelihood initiatives.</li><li><strong>Built Strategic Partnerships and Local Governance:</strong> Strengthened collaboration with local government authorities, community leaders, schools, and civil society organizations to promote inclusive governance, community accountability, and sustainable rural development.</li></ul>

Program Overview

The program enhances the capacity of local institutions, farmer organizations, and community leaders through research, policy advocacy, partnership building, capacity building , accountability, and evidence-based learning. It promotes community participation in development planning and natural resource governance.

Program Objectives

<p>To strengthen community institutions and farmer organizations through capacity building, research, evidence-based advocacy, strategic partnerships, and inclusive governance to influence policies and systems that promote sustainable development and poverty reduction.</p>

Key Activities

  • <ul><li><strong>Institutional Capacity Building:</strong> Strengthen the governance, leadership, financial management, and organizational capacity of farmer groups, women and youth groups, and community-based organizations.</li><li><strong>Policy Advocacy and Dialogue:</strong> Advocate for inclusive policies on climate-smart agriculture, food security, land rights, gender equality, WASH, and youth empowerment through stakeholder engagement and policy dialogue.</li><li><strong>Research and Evidence Generation:</strong> Conduct research, assessments, and documentation to generate evidence that informs advocacy, policy development, and programme improvement.</li><li><strong>Partnerships and Networking:</strong> Build and strengthen partnerships with government, civil society, private sector, research institutions, and development partners to enhance programme impact and sustainability.</li><li><strong>Community Governance and Accountability:</strong> Promote community participation, inclusive decision-making, transparency, and accountability in local development planning and implementation.</li><li><strong>Knowledge Management and Learning:</strong> Document and share best practices, lessons learned, and innovations while strengthening Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) systems to improve organizational performance and influence policy.</li></ul>
